Central Adirondacks - Long Loop

Route Description

This route travels along some of the most scenic and remote roads in the Adirondacks. Connect in Long Lake and head south via Route 28 to Blue Mountain Lake, home of the Adirondack Museum. Tour through the museum’s exhibits and a boat tour of the lake with Blue Mountain Lake Boat Livery, or head down to the road to Raquette Lake for a dinner cruise aboard the W.W. Durant with the Raquette Lake Navigation Company. Fuel up and continue south on Route 28 to Inlet.

Inlet’s Arrowhead Park offers a sandy beach and picnic areas on Fourth Lake, as well as special events and festivities. The Inlet Department Store, as well as Pedals & Petals bike and flower shop is must-stop shops for gifts and gear. After stocking up, continue riding on through Eagle Bay, stopping in Old Forge to explore the charming downtown area.

Old Forge is a bustling summer destination, offer outdoor dining, events and shopping. The Old Forge Hardware offers, goods and gifts. Hop aboard the Adirondack Scenic Railroad to experience one of the line’s special events, including a train robbery, eco-tour or murder mystery.

Along this route, a plethora of small Adirondack towns offer quintessential hospitality and unique dining and lodging. Continue riding south to Prospect to connect to Route 8 via 365 and ride through designated wilderness areas. You will ride around Piseco Lake toward Lake Pleasant and Speculator, and on to Loon Lake and Schroon Lake, home of the Paradox Brewery and the Seagle Music Colony.

Continue to North Hudson and turn west on to 2B toward Long Lake.
